Mudhoji College, Phaltan is one of the earliest institutes of higher education, run by Phaltan Education Society. When the college was started in 1957, Shrimant Malojiraje Naik Nimbalkar had the vision of providing quality marked higher education to the rural, agrarian based youths who would not afford to go to cities like Pune or Satara to seek degrees. He generously gave his own palace ‘Mudhoji Manmohan’ to run the classes and the administrative office of the college. He shouldered the financial responsibility, succeeded in bringing and retaining highly educated professors from Pune in this newly planted sapling. He started Phaltan Boarding for students from down trodden classes and economically backward sections of society. Later on he donated 28.5 acres of his own
land where the present building is located. All these efforts simply mark his deep sense of social responsibility and commitment to education. He never wanted it to be an institution established for any kind of monetary gain. Under the auspices of P.E.Society and under the academic influence and administrative skills of Principals like Shivajirao Bhosale, the college marked progress in quality and quantity. It added many new feathers to its cap. The dedicated contribution of Faculty, Staff and students is also noteworthy in making it a premier institute of higher learning, in our part. I expect that the college shall march forward with determined efforts and a holistic plan of development, taking into account the global changes and challenges in this field.
